Hi David, all good, thanks. Our ancestors may well have known each other. Sadly, I don’t have any photos. I tried offering the bib to the Sydney lidge a few years ago and got radio silence there, too.

Good evening Rose. Hope you are well. I was most surprised to read your comment, as my maternal great great Grandfather was also a Freemason and a Master of the Lodge from 1913 to 1914 for the Pretoria Celtics. His name was Frederick James Hindes. Perhaps our Grandfathers knew each other? Do you perhaps have group photographs of him with fellow Freemasons? Unfortunately all I have of my great great Grandfather is a large photograph. After he passed, his family got rid of all his Freemason attire. For some unknown reasons, they wanted nothing more to do with them. I also tried making contact with Pretoria Freemasons and also recieved no reply.

My paternal grandfather was a member of the District Grand Lodge of the Transvaal, circa 1914. I have his apron which I’m storing in a plastic bag because every time I handle it, another piece falls off! I tried contacting one of the Jbg lodges a few years ago with a view, among others, to donating the apron, but didn’t get a reply. If Roland were interested, I’d be happy to hand it over plus a few other mason ephemera that belonged to my grandfather. Only problem is I’m in Australia, so getting the items to him safely would need to be considered.
